Privacy policy
Pulse turns photos of business cards into contacts, and lets you share your own digital card. In short: your contacts live on your phone. They leave it only when you scan a card, when you turn on sync, or when someone you share your card with sends you their details.
Without an account
- Contacts, notes, follow-ups, events, your own digital cards and (if you keep them) card photos are stored only on this phone, in the app's own storage.
- Card photos you scan (reading a card needs an account, below) are sent to the Pulse reading service (a Cloudflare Worker we run), which passes them to Google's Gemini API to read the text. They are not stored or logged by us. Google processes them under the Gemini API terms; on Google's free tier, Google may use submitted content to improve its products. If you use the developer option to read with your own Gemini key, photos go straight to Google instead.
- Voice notes use your browser's built-in speech recognition; in some browsers, such as Chrome, audio is processed by the browser vendor's speech service. Pulse records nothing.
- There is no analytics, advertising or tracking, and no third-party scripts are loaded.
With an account (Google sign-in)
Signing in is needed to read cards; QR codes, your digital card and your contacts work without it. The account, and anything stored with it, is held by Supabase, the database service Pulse uses. We receive your name and email address from Google.
- Your plan and what it has left: your plan, any card packs or Exhibition pass, and a record of the cards you read and briefs you make (when, how many, and whether they came from the month's allowance, a pass or a pack; nothing about the cards or the people on them). We use it to keep your balance and a fair daily limit per account.
- A published card (a shareable link, or a stall QR in "Collect leads" mode, which needs a plan or the Exhibition pass) stores the card's details and photo so anyone with the link can see it. We count how many times the link is opened and how many people sent their details. Deleting the card in the app takes the link down.
- What visitors get (files and a link you add to an event): kept on our server so that visitors who send you their details can open them. Anyone given a file's link can open that file, so add only what you are happy to hand out. Deleting the event, or your cloud data, removes them.
- Pulse Brief (a short brief on a contact): the person's name, title, company, address, website, email domain and GSTIN from the card (never phone numbers or your notes) go through our server to Google's Gemini API, which writes the brief (and, where turned on, searches Google for it). We count how many briefs you make each day. The brief is kept with that contact on your phone (and with your account, if sync is on) and is never shown to other users. What the search finds about the company (public business information such as what it makes and where) is kept on our server for up to 30 days and reused for the next brief at the same company, from any account, so it is not searched again; nothing about the person, and nothing that says who asked, is kept.
- Sync, only if you turn it on: a copy of your contacts, their card photos, notes, follow-ups, events and your own cards is kept with your account so it appears on your other phones. Photos are private to your account. We record when you agreed and to which version of this page.
If you sent your details through someone's card
The name, phone, email and company you type on a Pulse card page go only to the person whose card it is. They are held on our server just until that person's app next comes online, then deleted from the server; from then on they are in that person's own contacts. To have them removed, ask that person, or contact us (below) and we will pass the request on.
Early testers and discount codes
If you join the testers on our website, we keep the name, Gmail address, city and work you type (and your phone number, if you add it) to invite you to the test on Google Play, to give you the launch offer and to ask for your feedback. Nothing else, and never shared. Ask at privacy@pulsecardscanner.com and we delete it. If you use a discount code in the app, we keep which code your account used and when, so each code works once per account.
Other people's details
Contacts you scan are the personal data of the people on the cards. Keep and use them only for a genuine business reason, in line with the law (in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) and with those people's expectations. If you turn on sync, you are choosing to store their details in the cloud.
Permissions
- Camera — only while the scan screen is open, to take card photos.
- Microphone — only while you dictate a note.
Sharing and export
Contacts are shared or exported (vCard, CSV, the phone's share sheet) only when you tap those actions. Export is always free.
Deleting your data
- On this phone: Settings → Delete all data, or clear this site's data, or uninstall the app. With sync on, deleting contacts also deletes them on your other synced phones.
- On the server: Settings → Account → Delete cloud data removes synced contacts and photos, published cards and any details not yet received, and keeps your phone's copy. Your plan, packs and their record are kept, since they are what you paid for.
- The account: Settings → Account → Delete account removes all of the above, including your plan and its record, and the account itself. One thing is kept, so that deleting and re-creating an account cannot restart the free allowance: a one-way fingerprint of your sign-in (a scrambled form of the account number your sign-in provider gives Pulse, never your name or email), with how many of the month's free cards and how many trial Pulse Briefs you had used. It cannot be turned back into your details, is used only if you sign in again with the same account, and is deleted after 13 months.
Children
Pulse is a business tool and is not directed at children.
